YEAR 7 HISTORY ASSESSMENT TASK 2 

ANCIENT SOCIETIES - ANCIENT EGYPT

TASK: To write an Empathy Extended Response on Ancient Egypt .

Imagine you are one of the Egyptian people you met on the Ancient History Day whose details are attached to this sheet. Describe your life in Egypt .

DUE DATE: MONDAY 29 TH MARCH BEFORE 9am in the HSIE assessment box.

ADVICE :

•  To write an Empathy Extended Response, you should write as if you are the person from the time you are studying. Use the present tense in your writing and make sure your work does not read like the work in a textbook.

•  In your Empathy Writing you will need to write about each of the following areas:

 i. Who you are.

 ii. What you do for a living.

iii. Where do you live (which country, which city) ?

iv. How important is the Pharaoh in your life?.

 v. Yourself and your family.

vi. Your house and your place of work.

vii. What happens during your day.

viii. How you worship your gods.

•  For more advice on how to write an empathy piece in History, have a look at the Faculty Website www.ans.com.au/~hsie/ under ‘Literacy Skills' and ‘Special Styles of Writing'.

•  The main source for your research should be the handout you received on the Ancient History Day. You may use your text book or library texts to add information to your written work.
