Let's Get Organised

MAKE A STUDY TIMETABLE

It's the best thing you can do to help you get into some kind of study routine.

KEEP A RECORD OF WHAT'S DONE

Seeing what you have achieved is an important part of making study a habit.

MAINTAIN A TO-DO LIST

This will help you organise yourself by showing what needs to be done first.

KEEP THE INTERRUPTIONS BRIEF

They slow the flow and you lose momentum ...so study takes longer.

BE PATIENT

Not every method will work for everybody. It is worth experimenting with some techniques to see which ones suit you. Don't worry if other people think you are different. It if works for you, do it.

BE REALISTIC

Give each task the importance it deserves. Don't spend too long on minor (but often easier or more attractive) tasks. Attack the tough things first to avoid running out of time just when you need it most.

IT'S ALL IN THE TIMING

Work out the times of the day or days of the week when you study best

VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE

Make sure each study session features different activities

REWARD YOURSELF

If you've surprised yourself as to how well you've just worked, take a longer break of give yourself a reward

DON'T NEGLECT OTHER SUBJECTS

When you are studying heavily for a subject, don't let work in other subjects slip by. That adds to future stress.

WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS ...

If you cannot start that big assignment or assessment task you've been putting off, do some other work rather than no work at all. Plan to return to the big task and set yourself a target to do so. Do not procrastinate any longer.

MOST OF ALL - REMEMBER SMALL CHANGES TO YOUR STUDY HABITS MAKE THE BIG DIFFERENCE
